Captcha Clarification - (Myspace SPAM Script)

10/3/08

Myspace.com has implemented a setting which is meant to stop add bots from easily adding hundreds of friends at a time. This setting places a CAPTCHA on every user after you click on the add page of 6-8 people in a row. This is the reason you see almost everyone on a single page have CAPTCHA, if you skip them. We have made steps to call to the people that have CAPTCHA and LAST NAME enabled to remove them.  So we have found these people do not actually have CAPTCHA enabled, yet rather it is Myspace.com’s SPAM prevention script.

10/23/08

After some testing, we have confirmed MYSPACE.com has its own SPAM prevention script to hinder Macro Bots from being able to add masses of people.  You will be able to add 6-8 people from our list to start that do not seem to have CAPTCHA enabled.  Suddenly, there is one that pops up!  To remedy the issue, add that person and continue (the CAPTCHA will not come up again for another 8 -16 more people), if you skip a person because of the CAPTCHA, it will continue to pop up for each after the one you skipped.  We have gone through hoops to try to make this experience as painless as possible. Trust in that we want our people to have a great user experience and that currently there is no practical way that we can prevent this from happening that we have found yet, but we are looking into ways to fully avoiding this if possible.

THANK YOU ALL,

SPUKO

PROs/CONs of increasing your HEALTH over the other Upgrades!

HEALTH BASICS 101

Health can be increased when you level up within your Upgrades section.  Health increases 10 for every 1XP used to increase it.  Every 10 health increase will also increase your damage taken and given when in battle. In addition, there will be a maximum increase in XP gained per battle.

Here is how it basically works, maximum health / 20 - 1. ie: (100 health/20-1=4XP max), so if you have 500 health you get max 24XP, (500 health/20-1=24XP max). The downside to increased health also comes increase damage, if you are fighting a person that has the same health as you. The fight damage is predicted by the person with the lowest health.  ie:  lvl 20 with 100 health attacks a lvl 160 with 500 health, the outcome is usually (1 damage to lvl 160) and (27-29 damage to lvl 20), same situation but lvl 20 with 120 health attacks lvl 160 with 500 health outcome is usually (1 damage to lvl 160) and (43-50 damage to lvl 20).

On the battles WON, you will be able to see the correlation of the XP and damage taken.  ie: Battle someone on your lvl 20, both have 100 health outcome (you WIN receiving 14 damage - opponent receives 17 damage). Damage taken is 14/3=4.666XP, but the max is 4XP with the 100 Health.  If the same was true of the battle (14-17 damage), but both were 110 or 120 health then you would gain 5XP. ie: (110/20-1=4.5XP rounded up would be 5XP or 120/20-1=5XP)

These 2 formulas work together, but can be a double edge sword depending on your goals.  At least you can understand what are the predictors and how to manage your damage given and taken in these app games.

Callout to People With Tips, Strategies, and Tricks to Write for SPUKO

Spuko.com is looking for people to write about their strategy that they use for each app. It is too much for the owners of Spuko.com to play every app and provide detailed explanations for every strategy. Instead we want to give you the opportunity to write a strategy guide for your favorite app.

If you are interested please email us at info@spuko.com with your strategy. Also, please include your myspace.com username so we can add you to our VIP list once it is completed.

We are always looking to improve the user experience on SPUKO.com, if you have a recommendation, please also email us at info@spuko.com or comment below.

New Features Added to SPUKO.com

Ever since the first day SPUKO became a public forum for Myspace.com app users to add friends for their relevant applications, the spam settings of Myspace.com have been an issue. Many users would add their name not realizing that the check boxes for Captcha and/or Last Name requirement was selected on their myspace profile. This action caused many unhappy SPUKO users.

SPUKO is happy to unviel our spam settings filter, which alerts every user if they have Captcha or Last Name Requirement on.  We are always trying to improve the user experience for our loyal fans and users.

Currently, the filter will allow a user to add their name to our system even if they have Last Name Requirement or Captcha on. They will be alerted immediately and provided a link to the settings page of their profile where they can remove the appropriate settings.

Please feel free to let us know if you have suggestions to make the site better.

Why Do Zynga Games Not Have Leaderboards?

Zynga is the creater and developer of Mafia Wars, Dragon Wars, Street Racer, Vampires, Gang Wars, Pirates  and Triumph. All of these games are fantastic in certain aspects but lack the critical component of competition. Of course every battle fought is some sort of competition, but a long term goal and strategy to get on top of a leaderboard is unobtainable.

In this author’s opinion there is no real drive to succeed in any of the Zynga games. If Zynga created a leaderboard system as seen in Outworld, Mobsters, and Heroes this author believes that the longevity and consistency of playing time would increase exponentially. There are no public stats to back this opinion, but from a competition standpoint it makes sense.

SPUKO is very interested in user feedback and would like to know how you feel about this. Also, if you would like to read the Zynga company blog, click here.

We have had a few request for a “VIP Section”, what do you think?

We have had a few Myspace users request a “VIP Section”.  This would allow a user of SPUKO.com to remain above the current regular revolving list, in an all inclusive category that would not be refreshed with the regular revolving users for a designated period of time (weeks) for a small price. We understand, not all our Myspace friends will see this as a valuable option for them, but there are a few who have requested this option and would be a great value to them. In addition, the users needing fast adds now, can rest assured, our VIP’s can be added fast, for they will have the “Captcha and Last Name” removed to allow the most efficient and easiest adds available.  Making them truly VIP friends.  We are trying to provide equal options for all users.  We were curious to see what percentage of people are for this option,  we came up with a poll, please take part.

Thank You,

SPUKO
